The Recreation and Leisure Program is instrumental in helping students develop the skills to utilize recreation and leisure resources. Students at Heartspring participate in many leisure activities on campus such as arts and craft projects, playing board games with classmates and enjoying seasonal dances in the Recreation Center. Students also participate in recreation activities such as attending professional baseball and hockey games, horseback riding at a local ranch, swimming and exercising at the YMCA, and cycling on the city bike paths. Annual special events that students attend include the Kansas State Fair, Midian Shrine Circus and a roller-skating party. By using both campus and community facilities students gain a tremendous knowledge of recreation and leisure activities and facilities available to them as they transition from Heartspring into adulthood.
