Parent Weekend 2010 Schedule of Events

Thursday May 6th

Schedule a meeting with your child’s team

Friday May 7th (All Events at Heartspring Conference Center)

9am - 11:00am - Parent Training Session - "Stay in or Go out: How to avoid a family nightmare"
This in-service will focus on how to implement positive behavior supports at home and in the community to maximize the opportunity for success while your child is home. We will specifically be focusing on:

• Designing the home environment to create structure, predictability, communication, and success, and the visual supports to accompany this.
• Using visual supports to have a 'night in' watching movies, playing games, and just "hanging out."
• Using visual supports to go on an outing into the community such as a restaurant, store, or movie.

10:15am - 11:00am - "SibShop" (Board Room)
This is a workshop designed specifically for siblings of children with disabilities.

Noon - Lunch on Own

1:30pm - 2:15pm - Heartspring Choral Sensations and Parent Weekend Video (Auditorium)
Heartspring Choral Sensations, with Verlene Warner, will perform in the Heartspring Conference Center. The Parent Weekend Video will also be shown.

2:15pm - 3:00pm - Visual Support Requests (Computer Lab)
Fill out Visual Support request forms online for your child's Summer break.

6:30pm - 8:00pm - Parent Mixer
Enjoy beverages and appetizers while you get to know other parents and Heartspring staff.

Saturday May 8th

11:00am - 1:00pm - Games and BBQ
Games, bike riding, horse/carriage rides, and a BBQ lunch will be provided at the Heartspring Conference Center.

6:30pm - 8:00pm - Prom
Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority will host the annual Prom in the Heartspring Recreation Center. Bring your fancy clothes and spend the evening dancing with your child and other families.

Sunday May 9th - Mother’s Day

Enjoy the last day with your child doing activities of your choice.
